From Wilford Whitaker (wilfordwhitaker@yahoo.com): Henry James Riley died at a relatively young age and his widow Sarah Ipson married her sister Mary Ipson's widower David Mark Woolsey, whose wife, Mary Ipson, had also died. David Mark Woolsey and Joseph Smith Woolsey are first cousins. David Mark Woolsey is a son of Richard Woolsey and his 3rd wife Clarissa Cole. Richard Woolsey is an older brother of James Hopkins Woolsey.
Sarah Ipson Riley commented on possibly the worst winter Utah had ever recorded to that date as follows;
"We did not expect our journey to be so long and hard, but cold weather set in early. work wsa very hard with the few tools that were on hand. I carried my baby for many hours with his little feet in the front of my dress against my body to keep them from freezing. Water was taken from the deep holes in the rocks left from the rain and snow for all purposes. Our faith was surely tested, but we put our trust in the Lord. Lots of sickness was indured, but all of our lives were spared." (http://holeintherock.info/pioneers/sriley.htm)
