Williams, Sarah

Sarah Williams was born 23 May 1860 Tonteg, Llantwit Vairdre, Glam., So. Wales. Sarah's parents were Evan Williams (1827-1906) and Mary Davis (1827-1899)
Sarah died 30 June 1943 Monticello, San Juan Co, Utah, USA and was buried 2 July 1943 Monticello, San Juan, Utah.

Sarah was the sister of Thomas Williams and Mary Ann Williams Perkins from Cedar City.  She was a very good singer.  She came with her parents to America, settling at Cedar City.  Shorty after arriving at Cedar, Sarah who was 19-years-old, joined her sister Mary Ann and her husband Ben Perkins who had been called by President Taylor to help open a mission in southeastern Utah.  While on the Hole-in-the-Rock trek, Sarah was so impressed with the Mormon pioneer's way of life, that she investigated the Mormon religion and was baptized into the church after arriving at Bluff.
On October 28, 1881 she became the second wife of Benjamin Perkins in the St. George Temple.  She was the mother of 10 children, nine girls and one boy, who all grew to maturity.  (See listing of names under Ben Perkins history.)
